If you are newly exploring issues of political reform, the websites below will help you catch up. You will note that the conclusions reached by other reformers are rather different from those presented here. Virtually all other reformers want to reform the political system by empowering minority parties. This has proven a failed strategy in most of Europe, in South Africa, and indeed in most of the rest of the world.  It is easily defeated by the power of money. Real democracy consists in this essential attribute: EXECUTIVE POWER MUST RESIDE IN THE DEMOS, THE COMMON PEOPLE. Empowering minority political parties is not to be confused with empowering the demos. Power Democracy advocates structural changes to produce a government that is far more likely to reflect the will of the common people, the demos, than any other proposed reform. That a government represents the will of the governed, not merely their "consent" to be governed is the true measure of all government that is legitimate and worthy of the name of democracy.  This ideal is the guiding principle of Power Democracy, which is otherwise value neutral. Because the ruling regime of the United States fails to meet this fundamental standard, it is neither a republic nor a democracy. People may disagree on how best to order the priorities of a society, but everyone who believes in democracy must defend government by the expressed and active will of the people as the foundation of legitimate government.
